METHODOLOGICAL MODEL FOR DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ ECOLOGICAL COMPETENCE IN BIOLOGY TEACHING BASED ON THE STEAM APPROACH AND INTERDISCIPLINARY INTEGRATION

Abstract
This study develops a methodological model aimed at the consistent formation of ecological competence among students in general secondary schools through biology teaching based on the STEAM approach and the principles of interdisciplinary integration. The model proposed by the author consists of four components—target, content, technological, and result-oriented—and enables the organic integration of biology lesson content with ecology-related materials from physics, chemistry, geography, informatics, and the arts. The study employed theoretical analysis, modeling, and pedagogical experiment methods. During an experiment conducted with ninth-grade students from three general secondary schools in Tashkent, the level of ecological competence in the experimental group was found to be significantly higher than in the control group. The obtained results indicate that introducing the model into broad educational practice is appropriate.
